How to use these numbers

The gold/silver ratio is the gold price per troy ounce divided by the silver price per troy ounce. For example, gold at 3,000 and silver at 30 in the same currency gives a ratio of 100:1.

A rising ratio means gold has become more expensive relative to silver; a falling ratio means the opposite. The ratio alone does not predict future returns or tell you when to buy. Both quotes must use the same currency and weight unit.
